Meet Dr. Matt Everett

Hi, I’m Dr. Matt Everett, a Board Certified Emergency Physician who discovered Functional Medicine while working through a difficult health issue with my wife, Renee. During her ordeal, I learned theoretical and practical applications of functional medicine and what it’s like to be a patient in a system that doesn’t seem to listen or understand.

You’re likely to meet Renee and our four children during your consultation or appointment. Becoming a patient at iHeal is like becoming a member of our family.

We founded iHeal to help patients like you who can not find someone to listen or look outside the box for answers. I look forward to meeting you and helping you on your wellness journey. It would be my honor to work with and care for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT IHEAL?

We value an integrative approach. This method utilizes the best of both traditional and functional medicine treatments. This enables the development of a comprehensive treatment program that takes advantage of a broader base of knowledge.

DO YOU OFFER TELE-MEDICINE?

We do offer care to individuals around the world via tele-medicine. We are passionate about providing excellent care, no matter where our patients are located.

WHAT IS INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE?

Integrative medicine is the approach used by our doctors as we utilize conventional as well as holistic/natural treatment approaches to find solutions to your health problems. iHeal providers will utilize herbs or nutritional supplements as well prescription medicines to optimize your therapy. This gives you more healthcare options and can lead to a treatment plan that’s more effective for you.

ARE THERE ALTERNATIVES TO PHARMACEUTICAL MEDICINE FOR MY CONDITION?

There may be. In certain situations, nutritional supplements or herbs can replace prescription medicine.

WHAT IS A COMPLEX ILLNESS?

It’s a diagnosed or undiagnosed cluster of symptoms that are recent or ongoing. Such illnesses are often difficult to treat with conventional medical approaches alone, and they may show better improvement with integrated holistic and conventional care.

HOW LONG WILL MY COURSE OF TREATMENT TAKE?

Complex illnesses take time to properly evaluate and manage or treat. We will give the time necessary to understand your concerns and identify the treatment options that will resolve your healthcare problems. You’ll see the doctor for up to an hour on the first visit and a half hour for follow-ups. A course of treatment may take weeks or months, depending on your condition.

CAN I GET IV THERAPY IF I AM NOT RECEIVING OTHER CARE AT YOUR CLINIC?

Yes. Although we are a specialty clinic, our IV services are available to everyone. Our doctors do not take the place of your primary care doctor. Our formulations are created by a doctor with special training in IV therapy and may be administered by our RN.

HAVE YOU HAD ANY SUCCESS REDUCING SYMPTOMS OF PARKINSON'S DISEASE?

We have had success with reducing the symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease. We look to determine first hand if the symptoms may not be the cause of some other concurrent illness, such as Lyme Disease, etc.

Some success with reducing the symptoms of spasms and involuntary muscle contractions have been seen with IV Glutathione, nutritional interventions and integrative therapies like UV light interventions which decrease inflammation.

WILL I BE BLOOD TESTED TO ENSURE I AM NOT ALLERGIC TO AN IV TREATMENT?

We do not typically test for allergies unless undergoing high dose oxidative therapy. Typically, if you have a hypersensitive reaction to a known substance, you may also have a reaction to substances that may exhibit very similar qualities.

DO YOU DEAL WITH PROSTATE HEALTH ISSUES?

Yes. The three most common pathologies associated with the prostate are cancer, prostatitis, and benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH). There are different approaches to each of these conditions. Dietary changes are specific to each condition. For example, with prostatitis, we recommend an anti-inflammatory based diet.

Supplementation with vitamins and/or herbs specific to each condition is also an option. With prostatitis, the main goal is to treat infection with natural anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory herbs. For BPH, the goal is to shrink prostate size by using herbs to balance hormones. As with any condition, a complete and detailed history allows for an individualized treatment plan that suits your needs and lifestyle.

I AM TRYING TO TREAT CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME. HOW DO YOU MEASURE CORTISOL?

Cortisol levels can be measured in two ways: through the blood and the saliva. It is believed that “free” or “active” cortisol can be best measured through the saliva. The best way to measure cortisol is to take multiple measurements over the course of a day. Samples can be started at any time and are then repeated every 4 hours for 16 hours. You could take your first sample immediately upon waking. Samples are then sent by the patient in a prepaid package to an independent laboratory. Results take about 2-3 weeks. Insurance reimbursement is dependent on type of insurance coverage and benefits.
